چکیده

Introduction Electron microscopy (EM) of fully wet samples is a valuable tool for studies in the material, medical and biological sciences. In order to appreciate the natural structures of tissues or materials they should be examined in their native wet state, as opposed to a dry form that incorporates artifacts of sample processing. Viewing and analyzing wet samples at high resolution has undergone a significant improvement only recently due to the innovative WETSEMTM technology developed by QuantomiX.[1,2]

Dynamic imaging of Au-nanoparticles via scanning electron microscopy in a graphene wet cell.

High resolution nanoscale imaging in liquid environments is crucial for studying molecular interactions in biological and chemical systems. In particular, electron microscopy is the gold-standard tool for nanoscale imaging, but its high-vacuum requirements make application to in-liquid samples extremely challenging. Here we present a new graphene based wet cell device where high resolution scan...

The Effect of Polyvinylpyrrolidone on the Formation of Copper Nanoplates in Wet-Chemical Reduction Method

In this work, we report synthesis and characterization of copper nanoparticles in polymer matrix by wet-chemical reduction method using ascorbic acid as reducing agent, copper (II) sulfate as metal precursor and polyvinylpyrrolidone k-30 (PVP K-30) as surfactant agent. The reaction was carried out in a high-speed stirring mixture at room temperature under nitrogen atmosphere. Characterization o...

Observation of Wet Samples Using a Novel Atmospheric Scanning Electron Microscope

The scanning electron microscope (SEM) has been used as a powerful tool for providing surface information of micro and nanostructures. In recent years, SEM methods for observing wet samples under atmospheric pressure have been reported by some investigators [1-2]. With these methods, the sample space is separated by a thin transparent membrane from vacuum environment where electron beam is prop...

Electron microscopy of wet tissues: a case study in renal pathology.

In this report we introduce wet-tissue scanning electron microscopy, a novel technique for direct imaging of wet tissue samples using backscattered electrons. Samples placed in sealed capsules are imaged through a resilient, electron-transparent membrane. The contrast of the imaged samples may be enhanced by chemical staining. The samples several millimeters thick and imaged without sectioning,...
